Diesel generators have some distinct advantages over other types of generators. First of all, their efficient engine uses less fuel per watt than gasoline powered units. Secondly, diesel generators require much less maintenance than other types of generators. Thirdly, because diesel generators operate at a much lower RPM, the units generate less wear and tear and thus last longer than other configurations. Finally, diesel fuel is available at most gas stations, costs considerably less than gasoline and can be easily transported in cans.

The diesel generators are much more efficient and preferable as compared to gasoline generators due to the following reasons:

• Modern diesel generators have overcome the disadvantages of earlier models, which used to have higher noise level and maintenance costs. They are now quiet and require less maintenance as compared to gas generators of similar size



• They are more rugged and reliable



• Fuel cost per Kilowatt produced is 30% to 50% lower than that of gas generators
